Em, when I started to explore options for a job at the end of my degree in UCD. I remember the careers day and no employer there caught my imagination. I thought maybe I will study more…..

That’s a good question. I would like to tell you that I was born knowing I wanted to be a scientist like some of the scientists I know. Actually I struggled deciding what I wanted to do during 6th year. I had so many different interests and there are SO many possible career paths. In the end I chose science and I am very happy I did. I think what’s meant to be will always be (sorry very cliche!!)

I’ve been in science for a while now that I honestly have trouble remembering the exact moment when I decided ‘this is my calling!’. Also the fact that I’m not the best planner for long term haha. I suppose it started off because I really enjoyed biology in school and so at the end when we were at the stage where we were all thinking about what to do after high school, I applied for genetics to study in college because I felt what they were offering to teach sounded really interesting! And then as each year went by, I enjoyed my course more and more… and here we are now!
