      Great question! The darker pigmentation absorbs more sunlight, making birthmarks more susceptible to becoming cancerous.

      Like Fiana said, sunlight’s UV rays tend to penetrate our skin and damage our DNA making it act crazy sometimes that can lead to cancerous cells. Birth marks are more likely to get damage by UV because of more melanin pigment. In general though, you should always try to protect yourself from sunrays to reduce your chances of skin cancer 🙂
