• Question: what happens when water meets lava?

      Hi LegoIndianaJones, I’m not a geologist but this is what I know…So Lava is very, very hot. That heat converts water to steam. Lots and lots of steam. At the same time because the water is way cooler than the lava, it makes the lava turn into a solid (just like if you cool a liquid it becomes frozen). This has been happening on the east coast of the Big Island in Hawaii for several years now, and has added new land (solid lava) to the island.
